Welcome to my Portfolio!

Hi, my name is Kaia. I was born in Chapel Hill, North Carolina and I moved to Hawaii when I was 4 years old. Currently, I am 13 years old and in 8th Grade at SEEQS where I have been since 6th Grade. I live with my Mom, Dad, and little brother Theo and my ethnicity is English, Irish, German, Polish, and Jewish. I would describe myself as quiet, thoughtful, curious, and kind, although I can be grumpy at times. I've always loved to read and write, and I hope to become a writer in the future. I also enjoy running, swimming, photography, and listening to music. Although sometimes I can feel trapped on this island, I love living here in Hawaii. This place has shaped who I am today in the best way possible, and I feel so lucky to live here. I love hiking, going to the beach, seeing rainbows, swimming in waterfalls, and learning all about the culture.

Travel

I spent a while thinking about what the theme of my portfolio should be. I wanted it to be something that's important to me, and something that represents me. One thing that is very important to me is travel. Traveling is something I have been doing since before I could talk, and something that I believe has had a big role in shaping who I am today. For each Sustainability Skill, I've included a photo from one of my five favorite places I've ever been that I took when I was there (New York City, The Cinque Terre, Iceland, Venice, and London) and explained how you need to use each skill when traveling. On the top of this page, I've included a photo that I took on the North Shore, because Hawaii is my home.

When I was in 5th Grade, I got to see so many places. My family lived in London, traveled around Europe (we called it The Grand European Adventure Tour, GREAT for short), lived in Michigan, went to Canada, and took a trip around the East Coast of the United States. This was such an eye-opening experience for me, because I was seeing so many new places, people, and languages.

SEEQS

Lastly, SEEQS. This school has played such a huge role in my life for the past three years, and has almost been like a second home for me. Making the decision to come here was one of the best ones I've ever made, because I've been able to grow and mature so much at this school. I've made amazing friends, had great teachers and classes, and learned so much about myself, others, and my community.

Thank you SEEQS for this opportunity.
