Privacy Rights, Non-Discrimination and Title IX

SEEQS: The School for Examining Essential Questions of Sustainability is committed to safeguarding student privacy and ensuring equal access to all educational programs and activities. As a Hawaiʻi public charter school, we adhere to state and federal protection standards in alignment with the Hawaiʻi Department of Education (HIDOE).

Annual Notification of Privacy Rights (FERPA & PPRA)

SEEQS protects student educational records in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), the Protection of Pupil Rights Amendment (PPRA), and Hawaiʻi Administrative Rules (HAR § 8-34).

Parents, guardians, and eligible students have the right to:

  1. Inspect & Review Records: Request access to educational records within 45 days.

  2. Request Amendments: Challenge information believed to be inaccurate or misleading.

  3. Directory Information & Media Releases: Control how student names, work, and photos/videos are shared in school publications and media.

  4. Survey Protections: Review protected surveys prior to administration.

Annual Notice of Non-Discrimination, Anti-Harassment, & Title IX

SEEQS does not discriminate on the basis of sex, race, color, national origin, ancestry, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression in its educational programs, activities, admissions, or employment. Title IX of the Education Amendments Act of 1972 prohibits sex-based discrimination and harassment.
