Kaua Kalaiwaa
Office Assistant

Kaua Kalaiwaa is from Waimānalo on the east side of Oʻahu. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Creative Media, with a focus on sharing Hawaiian culture through thoughtful and respectful storytelling. Her work blends creativity and community engagement, with experience in website development, digital media, and research-based projects

Kaua has presented at conferences such as SACNAS, where she shared her work on a native plant database designed to support access to ʻike Hawaiʻi across both Kapiʻolani Community College and the University of Hawaiʻi–West Oʻahu. She has also worked with the Center for Resilient Neighborhoods (CERENE), engaging with local communities to support disaster preparedness initiatives. Her media experience includes creating social media content for the Hawaiian Legacy Foundation, reaching an audience of over one million viewers across platforms. In addition, she contributed to the processing and preservation of the Daniel K. Inouye book collection, helping prepare materials for public access.

She lives in a quiet neighborhood in Waimānalo, up the road from her favorite beach park, Waimānalo Beach Park. Outside of work, Kaua enjoys spending time with her ʻohana, attending her nephews’ sports games, and becoming an engaging member of her community. She has two dogs, Punaliʻi and Tuahine; however, her household has six dogs in total. In her free time, she enjoys bowling, watching movies, listening to music, and collecting DVDs—especially favorites like Fast & Furious and Jumanji—as well as unique decks of cards. She also finds peace and balance through time spent in the ocean.

Kaua discovered SEEQS and was immediately drawn to its mission, vision, and emphasis on hands-on, meaningful learning. She is excited to join the office team and support students and staff in building a positive, creative learning community.
