Mx. An is originally from Santa Cruz, CA, and came to Oahu to study marine biology at UH Mānoa. While earning their B.S., they founded the Autism Student Union at UH Mānoa, an autistic led social organization for young adults on the Autism Spectrum. Mx. An first became interested in teaching after being a counselor at Camp Bravetrails, a leadership camp for LGBTQ+ youth ages 12-17. After working in various educational settings including afterschool programs, summer programs, and elementary schools, they developed a passion for working with middle schoolers and students with disabilities. Mx. An is currently pursuing their Post Baccalaureate Certificate in Special Education at UH Mānoa. Outside of work, Mx. An loves sea cucumbers, painting, and hanging out with friends from the Autism Student Union.
