Reid Tabata
Science Teacher
Reid Tabata is an educator and artist with a foundation in both creative and academic disciplines. He began his professional journey working with the City and County of Honolulu’s Department of Parks and Recreation, where he developed a deep appreciation for community engagement, outdoor spaces and building relations with students through fun activities. Reid earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Sculpture from the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa. In between degrees he decided to work at Jarett Middle school to confirm that education was the career route he was going to go with. After confirming he continued to UH Mānoa to pursue a Master of Education in Teaching degree where he would student teach at Waikiki Elementary and then transition to Haha‘ione Elementary where he has primarily taught 4th and 5th grade. He loves to try new things like his multi-grade classroom, combining 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders, demonstrating his adaptability and commitment to differentiated learning.
Outside the classroom, Reid is an avid biker and ocean enthusiast. His creative interests extend beyond traditional sculpture into photography, 3D printing, and laser cutting—reflecting his continued passion for hands-on, design-based work that merges technology and art.
“I love to work at SEEQS because of how integrated the community and content have become.”
