Marisa McAllister
Social Studies Teacher
Marisa McAllister is an enthusiastic Social Studies teacher who brings a deep love of community, and inquiry into her classroom. She brings a broad perspective shaped by living and learning in different communities, including Orlando, Florida and New Orleans, Louisiana. She earned her Bachelors of Science degree from Louisiana State University (LSU). Afterward, she spent three years working as an educator at zoos, aquariums, and science museums, where she developed a passion for experiential, student-centered learning. Marisa also worked in conservation at Kaloko-Honokōhau National Historical Park, where she deepened her understanding of Hawaiian culture and history. She is excited to continue learning and teaching, and strives to create facilitative lessons where students take an active role in their learning.
Outside of the classroom, Marisa is an artist, adventurer, and proud cat mom. She loves to travel and has explored several countries including Australia, Guatemala, Italy, Spain, and most recently Germany. In her free time, she enjoys creative and active pursuits such as crochet, playing the ukulele, roller skating, free diving, hiking, and yoga. Whether in or out of the classroom, Marisa brings curiosity, warmth, and joy to any environment.
I work at SEEQS because I want to close the gap between the community and the environment. SEEQS enables me to teach with a sustainable perspective which will lead to a brighter and greener future.
