Joel Saito
Social Studies Teacher

Joel was born and raised in Hawai‘i and is a graduate of Mid-Pacific Institute. He earned a degree in Sociology and Geography from the University of Oregon, then began his career in youth and experiential education through work with the YMCA and a local community center. After returning home in 2015, Joel completed internships with Kupu Hawai‘i, including roles with the Hawai‘i Youth Conservation Corps and as an environmental educator at Mililani High School. Inspired by this work, he earned his teaching certificate in Secondary Social Studies from the University of Hawai‘i. Joel spent eight years at Le Jardin Academy as a high school social studies teacher, experiential education coordinator, and program manager, and was also active in the Wild Kids outdoor education program. A passionate soccer coach, he has coached at Mililani High School, Mid-Pacific Institute, and Le Jardin Academy. In his free time, Joel enjoys camping, backpacking, biking, reading, and playing soccer.
