Deeper Learning Camp 2024

What does place-based learning look and feel like in Hawai‘i?

In April 2023, a group of Hawai‘i educators and leaders met to design a gathering of Deeper Learning practitioners. At its core, this group wanted to design an experience centering intentionality, reciprocal learning, and connection to place and community. The 2024 Hawai‘i Deeper Learning Camp seeks to foster a community of educators who are not just teachers but changemakers. Practitioners of deeper learning in our islands. This Camp is not just a conference; it's a gathering of a community of learning around experiential and culturally responsive learning experiences.

Hosted by SEEQS, What School Could Be, and Kupu Hou Academy, the 2024 Hawai‘i Deeper Learning Camp is a two and a half day experience, from June 12-14, 2024. It is centered around the elements of the SEEQS model: community building, content, and project-based interdisciplinary experiences. We start our journey with a Pau Hana event to build community among these passionate educators. The next day, we will embrace the principle of learning through doing with a field experience, offering a practical application of deeper learning. On the final day, participants will participate in or lead collaborative sessions, culminating in a Ho'ike to celebrate and share our learning.
