Andrea Shalek
English Language Arts Teacher
Andrea is a passionate educator with a long-standing career in international education, having taught in the South Pacific, Asia, and Europe. She holds a B.A. in Psychology and Sociology from Quinnipiac University in Connecticut and is further certified in international teaching practices. Originally from Maine, Andrea began her journey in education as a Peace Corps Youth Development Volunteer in Vanuatu, where her enduring love for teaching and cross-cultural learning took root. Her educational approach emphasizes the power of language as a tool for connection, critical thinking, and intercultural understanding, guided by a commitment to sustainability and social-emotional development, aiming to nurture thoughtful, resilient learners who are equipped to engage meaningfully with the world around them. Now based on Oʻahu, she is honored to be part of the SEEQS community and is committed to teaching in ways that honor the people, culture and history of Hawai’i.
