The School Leader serves as a lead learner and facilitator among a strong faculty of adults committed to bringing the SEEQS mission and vision to life. The School Leader fosters healthy, productive, and resilient interactions among members of the SEEQS community in service of students and their learning experiences.

The School Leader reports to the SEEQS Executive Director (ED)/Head of School.

- Master’s degree from an accredited educational institution
- Minimum of two (2) years of leadership and/or administrative experience
- Minimum of three (3) years classroom teaching experience
- Understanding of adolescent physical, emotional, and intellectual development.
- Knowledge of varied instructional strategies and experience coaching and supporting faculty in implementing them.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with students, school personnel, parents, peers and other stakeholders.
- Knowledge of how to support the needs of diverse learners, delivery methods, assessment, and staff development techniques.
- Ability to promote, follow, and recommend Board and Administrative policies, along with building and department procedures.
- Certification in Educational Leadership, School Leadership, or Administration and Supervision
- Advanced skill in dealing with students and staff with diverse needs at various levels.
- Experience in aina-based learning
- Experience working with non-profit and/or sustainabilty-focused partners on Oahu
- Experience with project-based learning environments.

Role and Responsibilities
The School Leader has responsibility for the daily operation, administration, and management of the SEEQS campus community, fostering a positive, safe environment that is conducive to best meeting the needs of all students, staff, and parents.

Strategic Leadership
- Pedagogy/Curriculum - Oversees the implementation of the essential elements of the SEEQS pedagogical model. Identifies pedagogical, curricular, and assessment goals; provides for coaching and professional development in service of those goals; works with the ED to evaluate progress towards goal achievement.
- Parent Community - Ensures that families are informed about the key elements of the SEEQS model and the day-to-day operations of the school, and that parent inquiries and concerns are proactively addressed. Supports the cultivation of community among the families of SEEQS students.
- Student Community - Ensures the implementation of the framework of the SEEQS school culture; including key community-building and community-maintenance structures. Promotes restorative practices in resolving student issues.
- Faculty & Staff Community - Develops and nurtures a culture of reflective practitioners whose goal is to function as a cooperative community. Implements faculty and staff evaluation processes that allow for reflection and promote growth.
Operational Leadership
- Staffing - Executes hiring processes and evaluates the ongoing success of teachers, staff members, and appropriate contracted providers who contribute to and enhance the school’s mission, vision, and operations.
- Facilities Management - Ensures that student learning needs and the safety of staff and students are at the center of decision-making and prioritization.
- Financial Management - Works with the ED to manage the campus budget to ensure that student learning needs and the safety and well-being of staff and students are at the center of decision-making and prioritization.
- Compliance - Supports the ED to ensure compliance with State laws and submit required materials to oversight bodies, including but not limited to the Charter Commission.
- Coordination - Coordinates with the DOE to ensure school practices are compliant with relevant Board of Education and State and Federal Policies, especially with respect to Special Education and 504.

- Public Relations - Supports the ED to sustain, build, and engender an effective public relations strategy to promote the school to relevant constituents.
- Professional Development - Creates and engages in opportunities to develop, strengthen, practice, and share own leadership and pedagogical skills and expertise.

Limit your submissions to no longer than five minutes of audio or video, two single-spaced pages, or the equivalent.
Hiring Process
- Round 1: Candidates for this round will be interviewed by telephone. SEEQS will contact candidates to schedule a 30-45 minute interview.
- Round 2: Candidates who are invited to the second round of the interview process must prepare a portfolio or e-portfolio with examples of work to share with members of the SEEQS community. Candidates should be prepared to respond to interviewer questions with examples from previous low- and high-stakes scenarios and events .
- Round 3: Candidates who are invited to our third and final interview phase may take part in and/or lead a collaborative work session with SEEQS faculty.
- Final candidates must provide contact information for three to five references.
Application priority date was March 22, 2019, though applications will continue to be accepted on a ongoing basis until the position is filled.
Final candidates will be expected to provide college or university transcripts. Hiring is contingent upon successful completion of employment verification, background check, and fingerprinting.
The successful candidate will be hired as an ~11-month employee beginning in July 2019. Salary is subject to the HGEA 10-month EO salary scale (with additional compensated work for up to 4 additional weeks).
Benefits include the Hawaii Employee Retirement System (ERS) and medical and dental benefits administered through the Hawaii Employer Union Health Benefits Trust Fund (EUTF).
