Our Mission and Vision

The diverse community of SEEQS fosters a joy of learning
through collaborative and interdisciplinary investigation of questions essential to Hawaiʻi’s future.

SEEQS graduates will be stewards of planet Earth and healthy, effective citizens of the world.

The SEEQS Model

Picture
Every part of the SEEQS school model drives toward our mission and vision.
Community forms the soil in which everything else can grow.
Content Courses introduce students to the disciplinary tools and allow them to gain proficiency in a classroom setting. Then, EQS Courses are an opportunity to apply these tools in a real-world context.
Through all this, students develop the Sustainability Skills that will enable them to live out the SEEQS Vision and become stewards of planet Earth and healthy, effective citizens of the world.

View the 3-minute video of how all these elements are connected, including how we assess these elements.

Our Guiding Principles

  • Real-world situations and real-world contexts enable real-world learning.
  •  Learning occurs when learners take ownership of their learning.
  • Everyone is a teacher; everyone is a learner, all of the time.
  •  A learning environment is composed of its community members, cultural values, and physical surroundings.
  •  Improvement of the organization requires consciously collaborative participation by community members.
