SEEQS Internship Program

We are seeking an energetic and efficient intern to assist our leadership team in implementing the structures and systems that underlie a high-functioning school community.

A SEEQS intern will play a critical role in supporting the SEEQS team of founding faculty and staff members. He or she must be committed to making the SEEQS vision--the school culture, academic excellence, and interdisciplinary, community-based work--a reality.

A SEEQS intern will be in an excellent position to:
  • Gain insight into educational administration and office management through working with the structure of an innovative public charter school in its founding year.
  • Develop professional communication skills while working with partners, parents, students, other schools, and community members.
  • Build connections within a wide network of professionals in Hawaii’s educational and sustainability communities.
SEEQS internships are unpaid. 
Applications will be accepted on a ongoing basis.

Qualifications

Every SEEQS community member will be an adult who:

The SEEQS intern will be an adult who:
  • Enjoys working with tweens, families, and community members
  • Is responsible, reliable, and punctual
  • Maintains strong time-management skills and ability to work under pressure
  • Possesses strong organizational skills, habits, and attention to detail
  • Communicates positively, clearly, and effectively, verbally and in writing, with a variety of audiences - students, parents, community partners
  • Works effectively in multiple roles: independently, as a partner, as part of a team, and as a team leader
  • Demonstrates solid computer literacy skills (email, word processing, spreadsheets, web-based platforms, etc) and computational skills.
  • Is able to commit to 10-20 hours a week for a period of at least three months (ideally six months or more).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience working in schools and/or non-profit organizations
  • Familiarity with communication systems and social media
  • Experience in graphic arts or design

Major Responsibilities

The SEEQS Intern may be asked to:
  • Assist in developing and maintaining a strong school culture for students and adults; demonstrate knowledge of and support for SEEQS’s mission, standards, policies and procedures, and code of ethical behavior.
  • Assist with office projects and daily operations to support the school’s mission, goals, philosophy and vision.
  • Interact with student, parents, prospective families, and visitors--in person and on the phone--in a friendly, professional and informative manner.
  • Produce a wide variety of materials for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference and/or conveying information.
  • Assist in maintaining website, social media, and calendar for school.
  • Provide overall administrative support for the School Leader and School Manager.
  • Assist in special projects such as enrollment events, school exhibitions, and fundraising efforts.
  • Help maintain relationships with other schools and external partners.
  • Assist with financial bookkeeping.
  • Help manage attendance and student records.
  • Other duties as assigned.

How to Apply

First, read the SEEQS website thoroughly so you understand our mission, philosophy, and values. 
Then prepare and submit the following:
  1. Resume stating your qualifications and relevant experience (max two pages)
  2. Statement of interest that answers the question “Why are you an excellent candidate for our school?”  Limit your response to no more than one page, single-spaced. Include hours and days of availability, as well as specific roles for which you are most qualified and interested.
Submit these items via email, as attachments (in user-friendly formats), to employment@seeqs.org. Please include "SEEQS Internship" in the subject line.

Selection Process

  1. SEEQS will review submitted materials and schedule telephone interviews with select candidates.
  2. Candidates invited for a second interview with the SEEQS team will be asked to perform "in the moment" job-related tasks as part of the interview. Candidates must provide contact information for three professional and/or personal references. 

Successful candidates will be expected to sign a contract agreement, contingent upon satisfactory results of background check and fingerprinting.

SEEQS internship opportunities are available immediately. 

SEEQS internships are unpaid, interns may apply for employment at SEEQS when opportunities become available.
