The Dean of Students brings SEEQS’s vision to life by fostering healthy, productive, and resilient interactions among students, between students and adults, and within the SEEQS community as a whole.

- All students are supported in making mistakes, growing, and learning how to interact in the world.
- Faculty are supported in maintaining strong, safe, and healthy learning environments, including sufficient support for the emotional and academic needs of all students.
- Parents have a clear understanding of the SEEQS philosophy and are appropriately included in the conversations and experiences their children are learning from.

Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree from an accredited educational institution
- Minimum of three (3) years classroom teaching experience
- Minimum of two (2) years of leadership and/or administrative experience
- Certification in Educational Leadership, School Leadership, or Administration and Supervision
Major Responsibilities
- Promoting Positive School Culture
- Works with the leadership team to design and implement activities, advisory plans, assemblies, and instructional strategies to bring the SEEQS mission and vision to life
- Provides professional development for faculty and staff to promote student behavior aligned with the school’s mission, vision, and instructional goals
- Assists with orientation of licensed and classified staff
- Assists faculty members in working through concerns and classroom management; including planning and directing meetings, staff development, trainings and in-services
- Assists with developing and implementing student orientation
- Assists in organizing parent conferences, back-to-school nights and other times when staff is available to parents to discuss their child’s learning and behavior.
- Assists with developing the master schedule and student rosters
- Ensures supervision of all school activities, including field trips, orientation programs, assemblies, performances, and other special events.
- Supports substitute teachers in carrying out their duties.
- Implementing Student Discipline
- Implements restorative practices and discipline procedures as described in the Parent-Student Guidebook
- Develops innovative strategies, preventative approaches, and proactive plans for students who exhibit at-risk behaviors
- Administers and supervises detention and other consequences for students
- Ensures appropriate documentation of student issues and consequences
- Overseeing Student Support Program
- Serve as the designated administrator in IDEA and 504 meetings
- Maintains relationship with district/complex area personnel
- Works with the Student Services Coordinator to ensure student support from outside agencies
- Works with Student Services Coordinator to oversee implementation of and compliance with student support plans and legal documents.
- Supporting Student Attendance
- Works with office staff to maintain accurate student attendance records
- Develops and implements systems to promote student attendance
- Managing Campus Safety
- Assists in creating and implementing safety and crisis response plans, including fire, lockdown, and shelter-in-place.
- Oversees maintenance of facility and equipment.
- Conducts search and seizures, works with law enforcement and enforces discipline policies
- Develops and manages a campus supervision plan
- Organizes and directs supervision during lunch periods.
- Provides first aid and CPR if needed.
- Other duties as assigned
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Experience with and commitment to implementing restorative practices
- Advanced skill in dealing with students and staff with diverse needs at various levels.
- Understanding of adolescent physical, emotional, and intellectual development.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with students, school personnel, parents, peers and other stakeholders.
- Knowledge of varied instructional strategies, how to support the needs of diverse learners, delivery methods, assessment, and staff development techniques.
- Ability to promote and follow Board and Administrative policies, along with building and department procedures.
- Ability to communicate, interact, and work effectively and cooperatively with all people, including those from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds.
- Qualify for a Standard First Aid and CPR certificate.
Hiring Process

Hiring is contingent upon successful completion of employment verification, background check, and fingerprinting.
The successful candidate will be hired as a 10-month employee beginning July 2018.
