Through Summer 2013, the SEEQS team will be renovating the facility to make it suitable for our educational model. We'll be knocking down a number of walls, renovating a few bathrooms, removing carpet, and cleaning the facility. Once our demolition is complete, we'll use volunteers from the SEEQS community to help us re-build, re-furnish, and prepare for opening! In the meanwhile, please use these photographs to help envision SEEQS' future home!
Our initial facility will serve as our home for at least two years.
We will continue our search for a facility that can serve as our long-term home.
SEEQS' ideal long-term facility is located close to nature and carefully designed and constructed to align with the school's philosophy of hands-on, place-based learning. SEEQS' long-term facility would need to support 350 students, with a footprint of 30,000 - 50,000 square feet of interior space. Our space requirements include large open rooms--six or seven multi-purpose classrooms (1000 SF each, minimum) that will enable us to implement our large, multi-disciplinary, multi-age, multi-teacher, "Essential Questions of Sustainability" coursework. The facility will have restrooms, off-street parking, and a kitchen/cafeteria. Ideally, the facility will have easy or nearby access to the outdoors: trees and trails, beach and ocean, sun and sky.
